
Each year on September 11, people across the world volunteer in their local communities in tribute to the individuals lost and injured in the attacks, first responders, and the many who have risen in service to defend freedom.
With support from United Way Worldwide and AmeriCorps, The Volunteer Center at the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County is engaging 300 volunteers of all ages in an event to honor the day’s 21st anniversary.
Volunteers will learn about and discuss September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance and the importance of emergency planning and preparedness, as well as create and distribute 1,200+ Family Emergency Preparedness Starter Kits for families in San Antonio, Texas.

- Thursday, September 8th, 9am - Noon and 1pm - 4pm
- Friday, September 9th, 9am - Noon and 1pm - 4pm
- Saturday, September 10th, 9am - Noon

Project Details:
- Package matching games. Volunteers prepare matching games for event day assembly by sorting and organizing bulk print outs of matching game instructions and tiles and sealing all items in plastic sandwich bags.
- Kit Assembly. Volunteers learn about the events of 9/11/2001 and emergency preparedness and create Family Emergency Preparedness Starter Kits.
