Requirements for Wednesday Volunteers:
Be able to walk a minimum of half a mile. Lift 10lbs.
Park at Central Library, meet at Tobin Center - River Level at 10 AM.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 26 - POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
Area Coordinators, Ticket Takers, and Ushers
Requirements for Friday, Parade-day Volunteers:
1 DAY MANDATORY VOLUNTEER TRAINING. Either November 15 or 16 at 5:30PM – 6:30PM at the Central San Antonio Public Library Auditorium Downtown (600 Soledad St.)
Ushers and Area Coordinators must be able to stand for the parade duration and be able to lift 20 lbs.
Parade Day Shift: 2:00-9:30 PM (check-in/lunch at 2:00 PM at the Central Library)
Attire: Holiday-themed attire and comfortable shoes
We provide: Free event parking at the Central Library, a volunteer meal & water from Whataburger, and a River Walk branded light-up Elf Hat.
PARADE DAY ITINERARY:
2:00 - 2:15 PM CHECK-IN AT CENTRAL LIBRARY and get meal
2:30 - 4:00 PM TRAINING & TRANSPORTATION TO ZONES
4:00 PM EVERYONE IN PLACE/RIVER WALK CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC
5:00 PM GATES OPEN/START TAKING TICKETS/USHERS TO START SEATING
We celebrate our 40th parade as spectators experience the lighting of the River Walk and view 27 beautifully decorated and illuminated floats as we officially open the holiday season. This year's theme, 40 Years of Magic is the perfect backdrop for our Grand Marshal, Willy Wonka from the Broadway production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The parade is televised locally and syndicated nationally through the new year with over a million viewers.
