United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County kicks off the 9th annual Write Start Project.
Volunteer days are essential for sorting, packing, and distributing the teacher bags. Our goal for 2026 is to provide supplies to over 2,000 teachers in NEISD schools.
Write Start Assembly Days:
- Friday, August 7 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm
- Saturday, August 8 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Write Start Distribution Day:
- Monday, August 10 from 8:30 am - 11:30 am
Write Start Volunteer Location:
- Driscoll Learning Center, 17150 Jones Maltzberger Rd, 78247
Expectations and Attire:
- The Assembly Days will take place indoors at the school gym and band hall.
- Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes
- The August 10th Distribution Day will take place indoors and outdoors, where we will be loading vehicles with teacher bags
- Water and light snacks will be provided; however, volunteers are encouraged to bring their own refillable water bottle
- This is a family-friendly event; individuals, families, and groups are encouraged to register. All individuals under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult.
Parking and Arrival:
- Volunteers may use the two lots at the front of Driscoll Learning Center for parking.
- All volunteers will be required to show a valid photo ID and sign in at the front before entry.
