Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc.

Our mission is to break the cycle of violence and to strengthen families by providing the necessary tools for self-sufficiency through the delivery of emergency shelter, transitional housing, education, effective parenting and early intervention with adults, children, youth and the elderly.
Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc. (FVPS), The Battered Women and Children’s Shelter has been helping victims of domestic violence in San Antonio for 45 years. In 1977, FVPS began as an emergency shelter for women. Today, the shelter can house up to 200 people (women, men, and children), and provides a variety of residential and non-residential services to help individuals and families recover from the pain and long-term effects of domestic violence.
