Volunteer: Youth Mentor

At Good Samaritan, we want to set the best example for our students. Through a program that focuses on the 40 Developmental Assets set by the Search Institute, we target areas where our students might need some extra attention. Students that show signs of risk are paired with a mentor. Mentoring provides our clients with a positive adult role model in their life. By engaging with our students, our mentors will provide a demonstration of these assets, like integrity and goal setting.

Mentors must be at least 18 years of age and obtain a GED or high school diploma. They must also commit to at least four (4) consecutive monthly visits at an hour each time. 

School Year:
Mentoring is available during our Afterschool Program from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

Summer:
Mentoring is available during our Camp Good Sam Program from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Volunteer: Volunteer to assist with Equine Therapy Lessons

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at our organization!  We hold therapy lessons Mon-Fri starting at 4:00pm and ending at 8:00pm each weekday.  The age requirement to volunteer during therapy lessons is 17 years and over.  Volunteers assist during lessons as side walkers.  The side walker provides support to the rider as needed.

Each (M-F) evening starts at 3:00 m and lasts until 9:00 pm.  We break the evening into two shifts for our volunteers. 

The first shift of volunteers come in from 3-6 pm.  These volunteers come in and groom the horses, clean the paddocks and put the hay out.  Then they get the saddles/tack and horses ready for lessons.  Lessons are from 4-6 pm.

The second shift of volunteers take over from 6-9 pm.  These volunteers come in and get the saddles/tack and horses ready for lessons.  Lessons are from 6-8 pm.  8-9 pm they feed, turnout horses and clean stalls/barn.
