The 44th Annual Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner will be held on Thursday, November 23th in Banquet Halls 2 and 3 of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center at 900 E. Market Street.
Schedule: An all-faith worship service will be held at 10 a.m. Dinner will be served from 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Musical Entertainment provided from 11 am - 4:30 pm.
Volunteers, please read the below information carefully. If you’d like to receive additional information as it becomes available, please provide your email address. If you don't see the shift you want, unfortunately that means there are no remaining slots available. Please consider an alternate shift.
Volunteer Registration Information
VOLUNTEERS – 14 and older can be used in the kitchen, but children 8 years and older can volunteer the day of the event. Per the health inspectors, please refrain from wearing rings, watches and/or bracelets if working in the kitchen. No flip flops opened toed shoes or high heels allowed in the kitchen. Purses, jewelry, crossbody bags and fanny packs are NOT allowed per the convention center restrictions.
Parking - We are sorry to say there is no provision for parking for volunteers.
Entrance to Convention Center: - All volunteers enter the Convention Center through the main lobby of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center at 900 E. Market Street – follow the signage.
We need help decorating the Convention Center on Wednesday, November 22nd. If you are a school/youth group wanting to help decorate, please advise all students must be supervised by a teacher, parent or guardian and your group must be registered in advance.
Meal Delivery Volunteers will receive additional information via email. If you are delivering as a family or group in one car, please register for one slot only. All drivers will be required to upload a copy of Driver's License and vehicle insurance. Please also provide your email address when registering.
All other Volunteers on Thursday will serve meals to our senior citizen guests, register incoming volunteers, help in the food line, clean-up at the end of the day and assist in other areas as needed. You will be assigned a task upon arrival and check-in according to the need. Please remain flexible.
Younger volunteers are asked to act as hosts and hostesses for the event, greeting our senior citizen guests when they arrive and making them feel welcome. You may dress casually and comfortably, and please leave valuables at home.
