Volunteer: Grocery Shoppers for Homebound Elderly

This volunteer opportunity is a favorite among volunteers. You shop for NESA seniors who, through no fault of their own, need someone to shop for their groceries on a weekly or monthly basis. Volunteers call the assigned client for a list and shop accordingly; they deliver the groceries to the client in their homes and may put away the groceries for the client. Shoppers are assigned to clients on a one-to-one relationship. Clients continually praise their shoppers and feel they are a part of their family. If you are looking for a volunteer experience that is truly rewarding, appreciated, and satisfying, this is the job for you. Volunteer shoppers provide their own transportation and ARE reimbursed for mileage. Volunteer shoppers ARE reimbursed by check from the client for the groceries purchased. Volunteers are invited to participate in social events with other volunteers and the NESA staff.
