In honor of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we are inviting the community to join United Way of San Antonio in an expression of unity. Volunteers will help assemble 1,000 emergency preparedness kits for United Way Strong Individuals and Families Impact Partners. All volunteers will be required to sign an event waiver prior to participation. Location: ChildSafe, Kim Abernethy Education Center, 3730 IH-10 East, San Antonio, Texas 78220 Shift Dates and Times: Friday, September 11, and Saturday, September 12, from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm Why emergency preparedness kits? The San Antonio and Bexar County region is highly susceptible to extreme weather, particularly flash flooding, severe thunderstorms, extreme heat waves, and occasional winter freezes. Who are we supporting? United Way and the Strong Individuals and Families Impact Partners strive to ensure that all individuals and families are stable, flourish economically, reach their full potential, and maintain a quality of life. Part of the support United Way provides is ensuring that families are prepared, even in an emergency. What will we be doing? We're asking volunteers to help us sort, pack, and distribute 1,000 emergency preparedness kits. United Way will provide all supplies needed to complete the kits.
