2026 Write Start Project
2026 Write Start volunteer registration opens July 16, 2026.
United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County kicks off the 9th annual Write Start Project.
Each year, many educators spend their own money on classroom supplies, often with no reimbursement. This community-driven project bridges that gap by providing school essentials, so that teachers can focus on what matters most: helping students succeed.
Volunteer days are essential for sorting, packing, and distributing the teacher bags. Our goal for 2026 is to provide supplies to 2,000 teachers.
Note, this is a family-friendly event; individuals, families, and groups are encouraged to register. All individuals under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult.
