If you’ve ever wanted to make a tangible difference for animals in need, volunteering at Petri’s Place Animal Rehab is one of the most meaningful ways to do it. Every day, injured and orphaned wildlife depend on compassionate, steady hands to help them heal and return to the wild. As a volunteer, you become part of that journey, offering care, comfort, and a second chance at life.
This work is deeply rewarding, but it also comes with responsibility. Volunteers must be 18 years or older, and that’s not just a preference; it’s required by state wildlife regulations. These guidelines are in place to protect both the animals and the people caring for them, ensuring everyone involved is prepared for the realities of wildlife rehabilitation.
And those realities are hands on. Volunteering here isn’t just observing, it’s doing. You may be lifting supplies, cleaning enclosures, preparing food, or assisting with habitat maintenance. There is physical labor involved, and being ready for that makes all the difference.
To stay safe and comfortable, volunteers should come dressed for the job:
• Closed toe, sturdy shoes, such as work boots or sneakers with good grip
• Long pants to protect your legs
• Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
• Hair tied back and minimal loose accessories
Petri’s Place isn’t glamorous, but it is powerful. It’s early mornings, muddy shoes, and tired muscles, paired with the incredible moment of watching an animal you helped care for take its first steps back into the wild.
If you’re ready to show up, work hard, and be part of something bigger than yourself, Petri’s Place is ready for you
